Important note about our production of RENT.

Our production will include the use of hand held mics and mic stands. We will ask you to audition with a hand held mic. This is a fully costumed, staged and choreographed production that uses these mics as part of our production concept.

  • We ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment time.
  • Please enter through the “Greenroom door” and make yourself comfortable. We will call you to the stage for your audition.
  • If the greenroom becomes too crowded, we may ask you to wait outside or in your car.
  • When you have finished your audition, please exit the auditorium. We will contact you and post the cast list in a few days on our website as well as online.
  • This will be a closed audition. No spectators will be allowed in the auditorium.

NOTE: For reference, there are recordings of RENT the musical available through many online sources, as well as performances on YouTube.

COVID-19 Precautions

Surfside no longer requires patrons to wear a mask while seated but we do ask all auditioners to wear a mask when entering the building. Once you arrive at your seat, you may remove your mask if you are inclined to do so. Please remember that many are still not vacinated. We protect our own so please act accordingly. If you have not been vacinated, we highly recomend that you keep your mask on except for when you are auditioning on stage.

Please look at the following bullet points to see how the process has changed:

  • Always apply the 6ft distancing rule when attending auditions. We will consider this as part of our onstage audition guidelines as well.
  • You will be asked to attend only one night of auditions.
