The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie is a classic murder mystery play and holds the title of the longest-running play in history, debuting in London’s West End in 1952 and running continuously since. The story is set in a remote English guesthouse, Monkswell Manor, where a group of strangers is stranded by a snowstorm. As news arrives that a nearby murder may connect to someone among them, tensions rise, and secrets unravel. Detective Sergeant Trotter arrives to investigate, but soon the guests themselves are in mortal danger, and suspicions grow in classic Christie fashion. Known for its clever plot twists and suspenseful atmosphere, The Mousetrap keeps audiences guessing until the final reveal, and theatergoers are traditionally asked not to share the ending, preserving the mystery for future audiences.
